Qu'est-ce que le scratchboard?

Le matériel se nomme Scratchbord black. Il s'agit en fait d'un masonite recouvert d'argile sur lequel une couche d'encre d'Inde(noire) a été appliqué uniformément.  Le principe est bien simple, il faut simplement prendre un object pointu(ex: lame d'x-acto, brosse en acier, aiguille) et d'en gratter la surface par des lignes et des points. L'argile apparaît comme un trait blanc et par le fait même permet de faire des détails très précis. Ce qu'il faut c'est surtout beaucoup de patience et de minutie.

Scratchboard

What is scratchboard?

The material names Scratchbord black. It is in fact about a masonite covered with clay to which an India ink coat (black) was uniformly applied. The principle is very simple, it is simply necessary to take a sharp object(ex: blade of x-acto, steel brush, needles...) and to scratch the surface by lines and points. The clay appears as a white line and allows to make very precise details. What is needed it is especially a lot of patience and accuracy.

Dessin au graphite

J'utilise les crayons derwent et du papier blanc sans acide de haute qualité. Tout est dans les nuances et le contraste.

Matériel utilisé

Pour pouvoir faire autant de détails sur un travail, je dois avoir des outils à cette mesure. Pour commencer je dois avoir des photos de grande qualitée. L'appareil que j'utilise est le SONY alpha 350, développant 14.2 MP. Avec de si grande photos je peux aisément agrandir une portion de l'image une fois celle-ci importé dans l'ordinateur afin d'aller chercher un détail comme les yeux. Un écran d'apoint me permet de facilement travailler avec les programmes photos et de les visionner, le LG flatron 23'' HD. Je travail aussi avec une loupe et un fort éclairage pour m'appliquer sur l'oeuvre.

I use pencils derwent and some white paper without acid of high quality. Everything is in the nuances and the contrast.

Equipment

To be able to make so many details of a work, I have to have tools in this measure. To begin I have to have high quality photos. The camera which I use is the SONY alpha 350, developing 14.2 MP. With that size of photos, I can easily enlarge a portion of the image once this one imported in the computer to find detail as eyes. A screen of apoint allows me to work easily with the programs photos and to view them, the LG flatron 23 " HD. I work also with a magnifying glass and a strong lighting to apply to the work.
